This popular eight-week series is entering its fourth year at the largest of the four area mountains, Snowmass. The best snowboarders and skiers in the state of Colorado are on the busy Fanny Hill/Snowmass Village Mall intersection each week to perform the latest tricks for a chance at a weekly prize purse and series points. Jan. 15, Feb. 17 & 24, Mar. 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31.  First one kicks off Sunday, Jan 15. See info below.

BUD LIGHT BIG AIR Fridays

Every Friday Feb 17 - March 31

Competition from 2-3pm

            Music on Snowmass Mall from 2:30 - 4:30pm

Fireworks at 7 p.m.

 

Schedule of Events for the Bud Light Big Air

12:30pm                       Registration begins.

1:00pm - 2:00pm           Practice.

2:00pm - 2:40pm           Bud Light Big Air Jam Session Competition on Fanny Hill.

2:45pm - 3:00pm           Bud Light Big Air Finals. The top four skiers and top four snowboarders from the Jam Session will move into the finals. Each finalist will be judged on one jump in the final. The top three will win a cash prize.

3:30pm                         Awards ceremony on the Stage on the Mall.

2:30- 4:30pm                 Live Music at the Snowmass Pavilion. Fun and Prizes.

7:00pm                         Fireworks over Fanny Hill.

Qualifying: There are two ways to qualify. Either competitors must have competed in 2005-2006 Big Air Events or competitors must successfully land the big air jump with a member of the Snowmass Ski Patrol to witness, on the day of the event.

 

Competition Format:  There will be a forty minute jam session beginning at 2 p.m.  The judges will choose four skiers and four snowboarders from the Jam Session to continue on into the finals.  Judges will choose the athletes based on over-all impression.  The finalists will have ONE jump and then be placed according to best-trick. Competitors must wear bibs

on their body throughout the competition. Competitors must wear helmets on Venue.

 

Competition Bibs: Athletes are required to return the Bud Light Big Air bibs after each competition. Failure to return the bibs will result in a $50 fee and/or the athlete will not be able to compete in any other Aspen Snowmass Events.

 

Weekly Prize money: $1050 of prize money will be awarded at each competition. The prize money breakdown is as follows:
