A Guide To Closing Day Celebrations At Aspen Snowmass

There are a lot of reasons to celebrate the ski season that was. Learn more about closing day celebrations at all four of our mountains.

Snow has been falling consistently in recent weeks and with the four mountains of Aspen Snowmass firing on all cylinders, the end of the ski season feels far away. But we’re surely guaranteed sun and slush bumps in the coming weeks, marking the return of spring skiing. Spring also means the always-coveted closing-day celebrations that help wrap the season up with a bang are just around the corner. Here’s where to celebrate before the snow disappears.

Ullrhof Farewell - March 30

There are big plans for the future of Ullrhof.* Wear your best 70's attire to celebrate the mid-mountain spot we all know and love before it's temporarily closed for renovation. Party-goers will enjoy groovy tunes and specials while we say farewell to one of the last remaining original Snowmass Ski Area buildings. We hope to see you there!

Buttermilk - April 6

Affectionately known as Bacon Appreciation Day, Buttermilk’s closing party takes place on Sunday, April 6. Join us for bacon creations in the plaza at 8:30, before skiing around the rest of the mountain in search of “bacon samplers.” Stop by Buttermilk Mountain Lodge—including its après spot, The Backyard—and the Cliffhouse for even more bacon specials, DJ sets, bands, and libations. Local band, 8th St Bus Stop, kicks off the après with music until 2pm. Watch the annual Rail Jam from 2pm-4pm at the base with a DJ bumping music until 6pm. Beats and bacon at Buttermilk make for a memorable, family-friendly Sunday!

Aspen Highlands- April 13

From first chair until the last call, the locals bring the party for this one. Mismatched costumes, snow blades, and thrifted sunglasses are a must across the entire mountain on Highlands’ closing day. Cloud Nine is sure to be popping, Merry-Go-Round will have specials and a DJ until 4pm (with rumors of a mechanical bull), and the Highlands Alehouse at the base of the mountain is the spot to be after you take your last Bowl lap of the year.

The Cabin - April 18

Soak up the bluebird vibes and lounge in the Sun Club chairs one more time this season! Enjoy food and drink specials from Sumo Dog and Veuve while dancing in your ski boots all afternoon.

Snowmass - April 19

Snowmass has plenty of terrain above 10,000 feet, so the snow here lasts later into the season. If you like spring corn skiing and riding, this is your spot once the lower zones start to melt out. For a full end-of-season bash, check out the always-entertaining Elk Camp Surf & Snow Beach Party going down on the Saturday of Snowmass' closing weekend. Elk Camp will host a high-energy après party featuring live DJs and hot tubs. Skiers and snowboarders are invited to take on the pond skim challenge, or simply relax and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Music will be bumping until 4:45pm but skiers must ski down before 4:15pm, otherwise the gondola is available for downloading until 5pm. Not a skier? No problem! The Gondola is FREE for foot passengers after 12pm.

Aspen Mountain - April 20

Props to you for squeezing all you can out of this season. You could recycle that Highlands closing day costume, but extra points for a second ridiculous outfit. Top-to-bottom slush turns will most certainly be in order on Ajax on Sunday, April 20—and be ready to dance at the Sundeck and sip on bubbly from 11am-3:30pm. It’s officially Aspen Snowmass’ last day, might as well go for it.

Aspen Afterparty - April 20

After you ski your final slush lap of the season, don't go yet! Gondola Plaza is hosting an Afterparty. Soak up the sunlight for just a little longer. Stay for more drinks and tunes with your crew until 5:30(ish)pm!
Thanks again for making this season one for the books. Enjoy all summer has to offer, and we’ll catch you next year. Pray for snow!
